Sustainability
Our Commitment to Sustainability
At Apex Pumps, sustainability isn’t an add-on – it’s built into everything we do. Through smart investments, operational improvements, and long-term planning, we’re cutting carbon, conserving resources, and making our manufacturing more efficient than ever. We’re proud to have reduced our environmental impact while making world-class pumps – and we’re just getting started…

Clean Energy & Carbon Reduction
We’ve taken big steps to cut carbon and energy use:
- 40% CO₂e reduction (2023–2024)
- 175 MWh of solar energy generated by our 360-panel, 150 kW Bristol solar array
- 37.8% less grid electricity thanks to renewables and smarter energy use
- Gold Notch sustainability award recognizing our achievements

Smarter Manufacturing
Bringing production in-house means less outsourcing, less transport, and more control over quality:
- Major new machinery: Mazak Quick Turn & HCN NEO Horizontal Machining Centre
- Machines powered by 100% green energy
- Reshoring stainless steel machining and casting to Birmingham and Rotherham
- Reducing overseas transport emissions
Sustainability in Every Pump
Our pumps help industries operate responsibly:
- Electric vehicle cooling systems
- Microplastic removal
- Methane-reducing animal feed processing
- Effluent treatment
- Sustainable UK food production
- By making our operations more efficient, we amplify the positive impact of every pump we produce.

Social Responsibility & Community Impact
Sustainability isn’t just environmental – it’s about people too:
- Wildlife meadows planted around our Bristol factory to support pollinators and biodiversity
- Cycle to Work initiative now sees 50% of employees commuting sustainably
- Fully electric company fleet for zero-emission business travel
- We’re committed to fair labour practices, supporting local communities, and promoting sustainability both inside and outside our gates.

Our Commitment to Working Towards Net-zero
Our work doesn’t stop here. Apex Pumps is committed to ongoing R&D into efficient, low-impact pumps, continuous improvement of operations and energy use, and transparent reporting of environmental performance
We’ve partnered with Advantage Utilities to drive down our carbon footprint and shape a smarter sustainability strategy. This case study video shows the steps we’ve taken and the progress we’ve made – turning ambition into action.
Recognition
We are proud to see our work recognised and celebrated by the manufacturing industry recently receiving:
- Runner Up: Sustainability Initiative of the Year Award at the Made in Britain Impact Awards in November 2025.
- Finalist for the Sustainable Contribution for a Better World category at the Pump Industry Awards 2026.
