Shaping the Future of Apex Pumps

Skills and Training At The Forefront

At Apex Pumps, we believe that the strength of our company lies in the skills and dedication of our people. That’s why we’ve always believed that investing in training and development isn’t just a responsibility, it’s a strategy for long-term business success.

Over the past 20 years, we’ve welcomed 16 apprentices into our team. Many of them began their careers learning the fundamentals of pump manufacturing, machining, and engineering right here on our factory floor. Incredibly, today, 70% of those apprentices remain part of the Apex Pumps team, building careers that continue to shape our company’s future, including Sam who has progressed all the way to become a Company Director!

Nurturing new talent

Apprenticeships have been a cornerstone of our business for decades. They offer an opportunity for young engineers to gain hands-on experience, develop technical expertise, and become part of a team that values precision, quality, and innovation.

We currently have three apprentices in training, each learning from experienced engineers who have spent years perfecting their craft. And soon, we’ll be welcoming a new administrative apprentice, broadening our investment in skills beyond engineering and into the wider elements of the business.

Continuous learning

Our investment doesn’t stop with apprenticeships. Engineering and manufacturing are constantly evolving, and we ensure that our entire team continues to develop their skills, whether that’s through specialist training, upskilling in new technologies, or leadership and management development.

This culture of learning helps us maintain the high standards our customers have come to expect, while ensuring that every member of the Apex team has the opportunity to grow in their career, supported by us.

Future of Work

We were proud to take to the stage at the Bristol & Bath Science Park for the recent Future of Work event, where our young engineers showcased Apex Pumps and shared why manufacturing and engineering matter.

It was inspiring to stand alongside other leading businesses and engage with students, teachers, and careers advisers about the exciting opportunities and bright future of UK engineering.

Building for the future

Our commitment to developing talent isn’t just about filling skills gaps that we have today. It’s about ensuring that Apex Pumps continues to thrive for decades to come. By nurturing our people now, from new apprentices to long-standing specialists, we’re securing the future of British engineering and keeping the craft of precision pump manufacturing alive and strong.

At Apex Pumps, we believe in inspiring the next generation to explore the many possibilities within our industry, because, as the BPMA put it, “Pumps: a world of opportunity.” With 36% of our current workforce having started as apprentices, we’re proud to show what a rewarding and progressive career path engineering can offer. From our newest team member, Business Administration Apprentice Jaheim, to senior leaders who began their journey on the shop floor, every story at Apex highlights how passion and learning can power lifelong success.

When we invest in people, we invest in the future of Apex Pumps. Why not find out more about the talented Apex Pumps team…meet them here!
